Wisconsin Center District - Job Openings

Part time work includes working unusual hours and schedules, including Nights, Weekends and Holidays. Number of hours worked in a week may vary greatly.

Box Office Cashier – Part Time
Sell tickets for events through computerized system or hard tickets. Must be able to read seating charts and provide seating location information to customers. Must possess exceptional telephone skills. Math, computer, and customers service skills are essential. Hours of work vary depending on event schedules. Start $9.09/Hr. - After 135 hours $10.45/Hr.
Cleaning – Part Time
Provide cleaning duties for all areas owned and operated by the Wisconsin Center District. Duties shall include any situation or occurrence that involves cleaning or any task assigned. Normally assigned to a shift and work various days of the week.
Start $9.93/Hr. – After 135 hours $10.62/Hr.

Set-up/Maintenance – Part Time
Event equipment set up/tear down – Tables, Chairs, Stages, Basketball floor, Dance floor, Ice floor, and other equipment as assigned. Normally assigned to a shift and work various days of the week. Start $11.69/Hr. – After 135 hours $12.97/Hr.

PSD Parking Lot Cashier – Part Time
Sell tickets for parking space at the Wisconsin Center District. Must possess exceptional math and customers service skills. Hours of work vary depending on event schedules. Start $9.00/Hr.


Telecommunications Technician

POSITION: Telecommunications Technician

REPORTS TO: Telecommunications Manager

GENERAL DUTIES: Assist in voice/video/data operations for various events, during event hours, for all WCD facilities. Operate and maintain AVAYA Technologies PBX. Assist in operation of 3Comm/Nortel Data Network and Theatre Audio systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of graduation from an accredited two-year degree program with a major in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

2. Working knowledge with Windows 2000, XP and Microsoft Office applications.

2. Ability to use hand and power tools used in day-to-day activities.

3. Ability to install and maintain hardware and software.

4. Ability to learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation. This learning takes place mainly in an on-the-job training setting.

5. Excellent communication skills needed for all aspects of job, including training of staff in the proper use of equipment and software.

6. Project a team approach and work cooperatively with others to achieve goals and objectives.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR POSITION:

1. Understand and consistently follow work rules, procedures and directions.

2. Ability to read, write and speak English; perform basic mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply and divide).

3. Good interpersonal skills, (Verbal and Written) with the ability to deal harmoniously with Wisconsin Center guests and employees.

4. Willingness to work staggered schedules to provide the proper level of event coverage.

5. Ability to work under pressure (i.e. - handling significant problems and tasks which come up simultaneously and/or unexpectedly, approaching deadlines).

6. Understanding voice and Data wiring and termination process.

7. Ability to work independently and efficiently and exercise initiative, resourcefulness, good judgment and accept responsibility for own actions.

Public Safety Supervisor (Full Time)

REPORTS TO: Director of Public Safety

Salary: $13.00 per hour

GENERAL DUTIES: provide Public Safety services for WCD. Be knowledgeable in all procedures, all building policies, and internal working and functional units of the Wisconsin Center District.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform Security Controller duties
2. Perform supervisory functions
3. Perform Patrol duties as required
4. Continually strive to improve procedures
5. Regular and punctual attendance
6. Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR POSITION:
1. Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office computer software
2. Understand and consistently follow work rules, procedures and directions
3. Ability to read, write and speak English, perfom basic mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply and divide.
4. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to be an effective team member with Wisconsin Center District guests and employees
5. Ability to deal with hostile or angry patrons in tense situations
6. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions
7. Ability to work independently and efficiently, exercise initiative, resourcefulness and good judgment and accept responsibliity for own actions.
8. Must meet requirements to attain a permit from the State of Wisconsin to perform Security Office duties.

Journeyman Electrician

JOB DESCRIPTION

Journeyman Electrician

REPORTS TO: Chief Electrician

GENERAL DUTIES: Performs duties of a Journeyman Electrician.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Install, inspect, maintain and repair electrical services.

2. General maintenance of equipment and fixtures at Wisconsin Center District.

3. Install, inspect, maintain and repair electrical service for facility exhibitors.

4. Install, inspect, maintain and repair electrical equipment.

5. Inspect and repair electrical fixtures.

6. Calibration of equipment and preventative maintenance as needed basis.

4. Provide directions and assistance to Wisconsin Center District guests when asked.

5. Regular and punctual attendance.

6. Perform other duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:

1. Stand, walk, sit and stoop.

2. Kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, bend, balance and twist.

3. Reach, feel, talk and hear.

4. Far vision at 20 feet or further, and near vision at 12 inches or less, corrected or uncorrected.

5. Lift, carry, push/pull: 40-60 lbs. on a repetitive basis; on occasion: 60 lbs or more.

6. Handle, grasp and finger with high degree of acuity and speed.

7. Normal range of hearing: perceiving sounds, including spoken words, in order to understand signals such as spoken directions, warning alarms, assess conditions and/or become aware of conditions in the work environment.

8. Ability to distinguish between different colors.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITION OF POSITION:

1. Inside and outside workplace environment.

2. Exposure to cold, heat and humidity.

3. Contact with water or other liquids.

4. Exposure to loud noise with a minimum of 90 decibels and vibrations from tools, instruments, equipment, machinery, etc.

5. Exposure to hazardous conditions: mechanical, electrical, burns, moving equipment/vehicles and heights.

6. Exposure to dirt and dust.

7. Rotating shifts, extended hours and emergency call-ins.

8. Work in cramped spaces.


EQUIPMENT USED:

1. Carts, scissors lifts, boom lift, motor vehicles, power tools and various other mechanized equipment.

2. Ropes, wires, pulleys, weights, etc.

3. Two-way radios and pagers.

4. Uniforms.

EDUCATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Valid Wisconsin Driver's License.

2. Wisconsin Journeyman certification.

RESIDENCY: Applicants must become a resident of the County of Milwaukee within six (6) months of completion of probationary period.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Wages and benefits are determined by the current union contract in effect.
